C.P.R. PUNE
The centre was inaugurated in a hall of Director of Police
Wireless on 25.08.1992 and later it shifted to the barracks of SP
Pune (Rural). The foundation stone for the new aesthetically beautiful
and state of the art structure was laid by Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh,
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra on 19.11.1999. The Centre
for Police Research with its campus of 6.5 acres, two conference
halls, a Police Memorial and 21 rooms for research scholars, was
inaugurated on 30.09.2003. It also has a Club House, Swimming
Pool, Tennis Courts, Billiards Room and Gymnasium. Centrally located,
adjacent to Pune University campus, Research Centre is ideal for
research activities and training envisioned as its main focus.
Centre for Police Research is registered
with Assistant Charity Commissioner Pune under the Bombay Public
Trusts Act 1950 vide Registration No. F-7878 (PUNE) dtd.
31-12-1992.
In the past, Centre for Police Research
has conducted two Research Projects.
a) Formation of Criminal Gangs in Big Cities.
b) Working of Fingerprint equipment.
Two projects on ‘Modalities for compensation
to the victims of crime in the light of position prevailing in other
countries’ & 'Cost of conduct of investigation' have recently
been sponsored by B.P.R& D.
Three operational projects on, 1) Development
of Dry Ration for staff on patrol in naxal area. 2) To develop carry
bags (pithoos) 3) Explosive Detectors, have also been taken up.
They are sponsored by D.G.P., M.S.
CPR has also conducted 38 Workshops / Seminars
for Sr. Police Officers on the topics of Organized Crime, Tackling
Naxalism, Use of Modern Technology to Investigate Crime, Cyber Crime,
Cyber Laws, Motor Vehicle Tracing System, Prevention of Terrorist
Activities, Economic Offences, Police Trade Craft, Death in custody,
Team Building & Leadership etc.
The research and training activities undertaken
by Centre for Police research are excellent in design and content.
CPR has published 5th edition of Maharashtra Police Journal.
Centre for Police Research is
the Nodal Training Cell on Anti Human Trafficking for the State.
